OVERVIEW
Spend 2 nights in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru was established as a National Park in 1961 and is located 2kms north of Nakuru town. The Park was also declared a rhino sanctuary in 1983. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lake is home to hippopotamus and clawless otters, in addition to a variety of aquatic flora and fauna.
After an approximate 2.5 hour drive from Nairobi, arrive at the 10-room luxury camp, The Cliff – located inside the Park by the lakeshore.
The days here can be spent on game drives, looking for that elusive leopard, Rothschild giraffe or rhino. Fit in a quick gym session in between game drives, or a yoga session, or even a relaxing swim by the pool.
A half-day Cliff Boat Safari is included here. You can decide if you prefer a Morning Experience beginning the day at 0630 hours ending at 0930 hours, or an Afternoon Experience starting at 1315 hours and ending at 1600 hours.
On the 3rd day after breakfast, drive back to Nairobi and drop off to your hotel or airport.
Pick up from your hotel will be around 9 a.m. and your English-speaking driver & guide will drive you to Nakuru passing the Great Rift Valley. You can stop whenever you feel like to take pictures. Arrive mid-morning or noon. Check-in and freshen up.
Lunch. Relax by the infinity pool with a cold beverage.
Then head out for a game drive around 4p.m. Look out for the wide variety of birds, maybe you may get to see the famous pink flamingoes by Lake Nakuru.
Return in time to watch the sun set from your own veranda in your tent room, with a glass of wine.
Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Awaken at the crack of dawn. Watch the sun rise, from the comfort of your own veranda, holding a steaming mug of coffee. You have a 180 degree view of the lake.
Get ready and go on a morning game drive, looking for leopard, lion, buffalo, rhino or rare Rothschild giraffe. Come back in time for a hearty breakfast.
Spend the rest of the morning lazing around the infinity pool or taking a yoga class, maybe hit the gym with a spa treatment after. Early lunch and then embark on your Cliff Boat Safari. Ensure you take your windbreaker or jumper/sweater.
Your driver will drive you to the launch point jetty below Baboon Point at 1.15 p.m. You will spend 15 minutes on the briefing, and at around 1.30 p.m. depart on the 8-seater boat Seaduction. There will be a Guide from Lake Nakuru to give you the tour, and you will have your own pair of professional binoculars to use. Alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, mineral water, soft drinks and sundowner bitings will be provided on board. The boat safari will end at 4p.m. at the same place you started, and your driver will meet and take you back.
Rest of the evening to relax, and freshen up in time for dinner.
Overnight at the Lodge.
After a heavenly night spent listening to all the nocturnal sounds from the birds and animals, spend the last few minutes watching the lake from your personal veranda before heading for breakfast.
Check-out and depart for your road trip back to Nairobi.
