This itinerary visits three of Kenya’s exceptional locations
The Kimana Sanctuary linking Amboseli National Park and the Chyulu Hills with Tsavo National Park, forming a corridor between the 2 areas so as to allow animals safe passage through.
The Tsavo National Park, the largest national park in Kenya consisting of 22,000 square kilometers and home to the red elephants.
And finally, the Masai Mara Game Reserve, home to the iconic black maned lions and the great migration of wildebeest from the Serengeti to the Mara
Touchdown in the safari capital, Nairobi, a bustling metropolis and gateway to all the game parks and reserves in the country. Visit the Karura Forest for a 5km or 10km hike, enjoying a picnic lunch by the waterfalls. Tonight you will overnight at Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection by Hilton
A 4-hour drive from Nairobi, heading southwards, brings us to Kimana Conservancy. This is the first community conservancy in Kenya, and due to its perennial stream, it has a high wildlife density as well as a high habitat density. Eland, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, reedbuck abound here, and even cheetah and the elusive leopard are often spotted. Settle into your suites, then enjoy lunch on the patio and ready yourself for a game drive in the Sanctuary. Sundowners in the shadows of Kili, and head back to Camp for dinner and a comfortable night in your luxury suite.
The day is spent on various activities – a game drive in the Amboseli National Park with a picnic lunch at the Angama private site and a visit to the ‘Pinch Point” the smallest segment of the critical wildlife corridor, a visit to the photographic studio at Camp, perhaps a guided walk or a night game drive, before an exciting outdoor dinner.
After breakfast, you will head out to the Tsavo West National Park, crossing the dramatic Shaitani lava flow between the boundaries of the two parks. The lava erupted some 500 years ago and has now formed a huge stretch of folded black lava. Arrive at your luxury camp named after Denys Finch Hatton, lover to Karen Blixen. After lunch, relax in your private suite and watch the hippos wallow in the natural spring pools dotted around the camp. Head out for an evening game drive, returning to Camp for a romantic candlelit dinner.
Today, you will visit Mzima Springs, a pool of crystal clear waters formed from springs originating in the Chyulu Hills. A natural filtration process ensures the waters are clear here, in the underground pool, you will find hippos, as well as crocodiles and some other animal species.
Continue on a game drive in this vast wilderness, populated by huge herds of elephants colored red from the dust. Back at Camp, relax by the pool with sundowners, or check out the spa and yoga deck, before heading out for dinner and a relaxing sleep in the tented suite.
A morning flight to Nairobi, getting you into the city in the early afternoon hours. The afternoon is at leisure for a siesta in your room to recharge your batteries, or for checking out Nairobi’s vibrant restaurant scene.
A morning flight to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve will bring you to the stunning Angama Mara Camp, overlooking the Mara Triangle.
Settle into your tented suite, and after lunch on the terrace, visit the beading studio and Map Room before heading out on a game drive in the Mara Triangle to spot the famous black maned lions of the Mara.
Today, you will start early on your exploration of the Mara Triangle. Stop under a tree for a picnic breakfast and continue your exploration up to the Tanzanian border. Return to Camp in time to raise a glass to the Maasai warriors as they perform their dances around the bonfire.
On this last day in the Mara, after breakfast at the Camp, join your Maasai naturalist to explore the area around Camp, on foot. The naturalist is an astonishing fount of knowledge about the local flora & fauna.
Return to Camp for a short siesta or a pampering massage in your suite. Today’s lunch is at the Shamba where you can pick your greens and flowers, enjoying your lunch with a panoramic view of the Mara below.
A short evening game drive ending up at the forest BBQ for a superb dinner, before heading to your room for a good night’s rest.
Wake up to the sounds of the wild, and enjoy breakfast on the terrace. Your morning flight to Nairobi will get you into the city in the early afternoon hours, and a short transfer to the international airport will leave you with enough time to check in for your international flight.
