Kalama Conservancy located in the northern part of the country, consists of 200,000 acres of unspoilt wilderness. Look out for giant herds of elephants at the waterholes, as well as leopards who have their lairs on rocky outcrops nearby. Being the only property in the Conservancy, Saruni Samburu guarantees you an exclusive experience, as well as style and comfort in their chic, ecofriendly villas that are open and spacious. Engage with the local Samburu at the lodge and learn about their culture.

Game drive in the Samburu National Reserve, having the opportunity to spot the rare animals endemic to the north – Beisa oryx, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and long necked gerenuk. A picnic lunch by the river, returning to the lodge for some relaxation. Evening drive in the Conservancy, ending with a magical bush dinner under the stars.

Head north west to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, where orphaned elephants are being cared for. Watch the noontime feeding session where the hungry ellie babies come running for their bottles, after which they head out to play again. Our final destination is the Saruni Rhino Camp, located in the wild, undiscovered northern frontier areas. Enjoy a sunset lugga walk, or a torch-lit bush dinner in the lugga.

It’s a cultural morning with a visit to the Singing Wells where Samburu pastoralists sing and water their livestock using the series of wells in the area. The afternoon is reserved for the unique activity of rhino tracking. This exhilarating adventure tracking the endangered black rhino takes place on foot, in the late afternoon. The rangers will communicate with one another to ensure you track as many rhinos as possible.

Our home for the next 2 nights in the Mara North Conservancy, 30,000 acres of protected land adjacent to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Enjoy game drives during the day and late evening hours, as well as guided walks, bush meals and birdwatching.
